Polycom Pano is the easiest way to share content at work.
That’s Polycom’s claim. But what do they do to back up this claim?
Thanks for your reply Steffen, As mentioned, I already read all the documents and statements from Polycom about AirPlay support. My question was about why Polycom doesn't support AirPlay P2P which is a kinda old evolution of AirPlay (again 2013/2014) and works more or less like Miracast, i.e. Using WiDi (just type AirPlay P2P in Google to see it's been there for a long time).
Well, let’s think about what businesses are looking for when it comes to sharing content. What would the ideal content sharing solution look like? It’s actually not too long of a list when you think about it:

- Top-class display resolution
- Enables interactive collaboration
- Remote parties can collaborate just as well as local parties
- Saves the results

It’s just as easy to connect devices to Pano. We say “devices” because you can connect almost anything to Pano: smartphones, tablets, PCs, Macs. Mobile devices mirror content using Apple AirPlay or Windows Miracast. Pretty much all Apple devices support AirPlay, and there are lots and lots of great options for Miracast apps on the Google Play Store for Android users. This means that whatever you can share via AirPlay and Miracast can be shared via Pano. In other words, you can share pretty much anything from a mobile device to an HD display using Pano.
Pano App
For computer users, Polycom provides the free Pano App for Windows or macOS. You don’t need to use this app at all if you don’t want to; it’s entirely optional. But you’ll probably find yourself wanting to use Pano App. It’s a lightweight, dead-easy program. You can connect to the conversation with just a single click! Pano App allows a user from a single workstation to share up to four streams of content at once.
What can you share? Pretty much anything you want, including your computer desktop. Multitouch Collaboration
One of the most amazing features of Pano is its support for touch interface. When connected to a compatible touchscreen display, Polycom Pano lets teams collaborate intuitively using a thoughtful selection of tools.
Manipulating content becomes like what we’re all familiar with from smartphones, with multitouch gestures like pinch to zoom or pan. But instead of a tablet-sized display, you get a full HD display for everyone to see.
On the side of the display, Pano displays a toolbar. There, you’ll get excellent collaboration features. For example, there’s a magic highlighter that’ll draw a temporary line on the content to call attention to something. Or, you can swipe all five of your fingers to make a big eraser. Or, you can take a snapshot with a single tap. There are lots of intuitive features to take advantage of.
You can even manipulate and annotate four live streams of content, taking snapshots of progress for later reference. It’s an infinite whiteboard!
But we know that touchscreen interfaces are always easier to see than to read about, so here’s a video from Polycom showing you some of the collaboration possibilities enabled by Pano:

No content is stored on Pano. All streams are closed at the end of the session. So no one can steal your information by stealing Pano.
All the media streams can be encrypted via SRTP, and you can certify devices or software by using standards-following cryptographic signatures. You can ensure data integrity. The WiFi stream can be encrypted using WPA2-Enterprise with 802.1X authentication. Pano is provisioned using a web-based interface using the secure HTTPS protocol.
